BLUE BERRET!!!

WOOTS! so yesterday night we went to east coast n did our 16km route march with a 15kg field pack... haha so we ended it around 2+ then waited for the bus to pick us back to camp.. well we were all expecting a turnout back at camp but the bus took a different route so i kinda expected it to be somewhere else... true enough we went to farrer park! hahaha turnout was quite fun actually... not as shiong as the ones ive been through in alpha... :P haha even the casevac was at a walking pace with only 60kg to be carried on a stretcher... haha no time limit somemore! hahaha slack sia... =X yeah but think i pulled my hip flexor muscle... but i got my blue berret le! hahaha so easy to earn :P unlike my green one from alpha... haha yeah so we returned back to camp around 7+am... lack of sleep, blistered feet, abrasions everywhere, whole body aching... haha somemore got 10 radio net diagrams to copy n pass up by next bookin... kns... 1 takes like 20+ mins to do lor... _|_ oh well good news is that mon bookin! hahaha somemore go to labador park for some celebrations... hahahaha SHIOK!

Astrolesson: The Chinese Elements

Yes, the Year of the Pig is upon us, but remember, it's not just the Pig -- it's the Fire Pig! The Fire Pig is more like a wild boar than its placid, barnyard brother. With Fire as the ruling element of 2007, the dynamics of the days ahead will be greatly influenced by this intense, spark-filled energy.
The Chinese five-elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) theory dates back over 2,000 years. Perhaps the earliest integration of the five elements into Chinese thought comes with their association with the five directions. Characteristics of the five directions lend themselves to those of the five elements. The points and elements are matched as follows:
East -- Wood
South -- Fire
Center -- Earth
West -- Metal
North -- Water
These also dovetail into an association with the seasons that also dates back over 2,000 years. The five seasons and their corresponding elements are:
Spring -- Wood
Summer -- Fire
Middle Season -- Earth
Autumn -- Metal
Winter -- Water
In China, the summer is a time of heat -- hence Fire. With heat, there is plenty of action -- physical and mental -- but there can also be stress (summer can bring fires and drought). On the other hand, life is generally easier during times of warm weather and plentiful food, so there is also an association with relaxation and, nowadays, vacations.
New plant growth tends to happen in the spring, so that is the time ruled by Wood. Metal is connected with fall, as that is the time metal tools are used to bring in the harvest. Earth has been assigned to a fifth season, which occurs during what in western cultures would be considered late summer/early autumn. Rains generally come to China in winter, hence that season's association with Water. The most basic procedure for dividing a person's life into periods follows the cyclical five-element pattern and, thus, with the changing of the seasons. Birth -- the period of new growth -- is governed by Wood, as is spring. Youth is the Fire time -- a time when children are very active and begin developing their mental capabilities and testing the limits of acceptable behavior. This time is associated with summer. As the early years represent the hot time, the later years bring the cold time. Earth is the time of reaching maturity, the time of crossing the bridge from youth to adulthood. During this middle season period, a person identifies with the practical needs of job and family and arrives at a measure of self-understanding. Metal rules midlife, a time to harvest the fruits of previous education and present labors; as is the case with fall. Then there is Water, the element associated with retirement and with winter. This is not the end, however, as the cycle begins again. When a person turns 60 (an important birthday in China) the Wood time begins again.
When the elements follow in order (Wood -- Fire -- Earth -- Metal -- Water), there is harmony and, thus, a constructive cycle. For example, Water makes Wood grow, and Wood fuels Fire. In a destructive cycle (Water -- Fire -- Metal -- Wood -- Earth) there is disharmony. Water puts out Fire, and Metal destroys (chops) Wood. This has many implications in Chinese astrology. Each of the five periods of life is governed by an element. If that element is in harmony with the natural element of the time, the person will have a favorable chart. For instance, as birth is the natural time of Wood, Water is the best element to have in a chart at that time. Conversely, if a person's birth element is Metal, they could be in for a challenging life.
The elements are also crucial in relationship dynamics. For example, according to Chinese astrology, a person born in the year of the Sheep is extremely compatible with a Pig partner. But what happens if the Sheep was born in a Water year and the Pig was born in a Fire year? Are they compatible? In Chinese, the characters for Water and Fire together spell disaster!

GONG HEI FAT CHOI!!! hahaha yeah the best time of the year!!! hahaha yeah so friday we had a cny celebration at east coast with a 5km run... den by 1030 we were off le! haha so went home n did some cleaning of my room... den went out for dinner at the hong kong cafe at marina square with my bunk mates... hahaha everyone was so well dressed... branded from head to toe... lol saw so many ppl that somehow or another we noe along the way haha den went to suntec and played some xbox and the arcade... lol i was playing initial d then some uncle came and challenged me... lol he used his zeng-ed up car to beat a 1st tome player like me... hahaha but it was fun... den went to cine and had supper and saw one of our alpha sirs and our current instructor 2lt jiang... lol he damn farni lor... told us to go mos on mon... hahahaha pro... den went to watch ghost rider! woohoo! i felt the show was really rushed... not that nice too... haiz... i wanna watch epic movie! hahaha my bro said its slapstick lame show but heck i love those kinda shows! who wanna go watch with me???

reunion dinner! haha went up to my grams place for reunion dinner... we catered in this time... sian... lack of alot of grams trademark dishes sia... but still eat till damn full... gonna put on weight sia... haiz... cannot... must go run one of this nights... my cousin gonna go work at cafe del mar this march sia!!! omgomgomg can go there next time sia! hahaha yeah den played some majong! haha biggest winner for the night... :D 3 outta 4 games won... 1 zi mo somemore... :P okies time to make some money lo! hahaha

GUARD DUTY sentry... sian... stand for 2 hrs each shift... den next day went for exercise... the only group to walk to my place... others take rover there... haha but it was fun walking out in public with a rifle... haha many schoolkids said hi too... haha so walked to some carpark along woodlands rd... had a picnic there... wahahaha slp abit too till we kena stun by our sir... his car super stealth mode sia... hahaha either that or we were too tired... :P oh wells it was fun

Sometimes the hardest part about working for a goal is learning when to be hands-off. No matter how much you want to stick your nose into other people's opinions, let your work speak for itself.
